St Martin’s

St Martin’s is the third largest inhabited island with 568 acres and a population of 110. St Martins boasts a wide range of activities including a cricket pitch and some of the best beaches in the British Isles! You could be forgiven for thinking that you were on a Caribbean island as the sands are so soft and white and stretch out to the clear water. St Martins Bay or High Tower Bay is worth a look.

St Martins has a Grocery store, Post office, the Polreath Tea Rooms, The Little Athur Cafe and the St Martin’s Vineyard and Visitor Centre.

The Seven Stones Pub, the hotel and bakery may be closed, so please check at the Tourist Information Centre on St Mary’s.

St Martin’s is the home of the most south westerly vineyard in England. It was started in 1996 as a holiday hobby. There are now 18 fields, nearly three acres, under vines. The first vintage in 2000 produced 120 bottles. Throughout the summer the vineyard is open for tours between 11am and 4pm.

The views from the islands are spectacular especially from the ancient Day Mark encompassing Round Island Lighthouse, Tean and St Helen’s round to the Eastern Islands and back towards St Mary’s and Tresco.
